There is a lot to love about this: the characters, the concept, the connection between East and West, and the deeper themes. It feels like a real-life Studio Ghibli (only without the spirits).

One of the strongest elements of the script is Shin as the protagonist. He's incredibly likable and empathetic. His love of slugs is contagious. Overall, there's a lot to really enjoy in this story.
